About the book
Roman Mosaics of Britain, Volume V extends Stephen R. Cosh and David S. Neal’s major corpus with discoveries and research made since 2010. It records newly identified mosaics, revisits known examples in light of subsequent investigation and updates the archaeological record of Romano-British mosaic pavements.
Among the new finds are remarkable figurative mosaics at Ketton in Rutland, depicting scenes from the Trojan War, and Boxford in Berkshire, with stories of Bellerophon and Pelops. Alongside these discoveries, the authors consider how mosaics were designed, made and situated within buildings. The catalogue brings the record through July 2023, including sites re-excavated and older records brought back to light.
