The Molyvoti, Thrace, Archaeological Project 1: Landscape, Architecture, and Material Culture

The Molyvoti, Thrace, Archaeological Project 1 presents the first final results of a major Greek-American investigation of the northern Aegean site often identified as ancient Stryme. The volume publishes stratigraphy, architecture, landscape and material culture from the 2013–2015 field seasons, including a rare complete Classical house.

Although Classical and Hellenistic occupation is central, the site’s history extends through Roman and Early Byzantine phases. More than twenty contributors examine ceramics, small finds, inscriptions and Greek-Thracian interaction. Their evidence also prompts a revised history of the settlement, including fourth-century BCE reoccupation after a destruction that may be connected with Philip of Macedon; urban survey and landscape studies trace its fortifications, harbours and changing coastline.
