About the book
A Reading Course in Homeric Greek: Book 2 continues the course begun in Book 1 and develops the skills needed to read Homer in the original Greek. This third edition works through complete passages from Books 6 and 12 of the Odyssey, arranging the text in manageable lessons of roughly ten to twenty-five lines and combining reading practice with vocabulary, grammar and literary commentary.
Each lesson includes frequently occurring words for memorisation, expanded grammatical notes and thematic discussion designed to connect language study with the poem itself. A Greek–English vocabulary, a summary of grammar and guidance on reading Homer rhythmically provide additional support. Intended as a continuation rather than a standalone beginner’s introduction, the volume is particularly useful for students moving from elementary Homeric Greek toward sustained reading of the Odyssey.
