About the book

This Oxford Classical Texts volume presents Books I–XII of Homer's Iliad in the original Greek, in the established critical text associated with D. B. Monro and T. W. Allen. Designed for close textual study, it provides the first half of the epic in a durable scholarly edition.

This is a specialist original-Greek critical text, not an English translation, and it contains Books I–XII rather than the complete Iliad. It is intended for readers working directly with Homeric Greek, classical literature and textual criticism.

Why this edition?

This Oxford Classical Texts hardback offers the established Monro–Allen critical Greek text of Books I–XII, making it the appropriate specialist choice for readers working directly with Homeric Greek and textual scholarship rather than seeking an English translation.
